چکیده

Background Adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) is a common, costly, and progressive spinal deformity that affects 3-dimensional (3D) neuromuscular control of the axial spinal musculature. Conventional studies of spinal corrective techniques have shown improvements in cardiopulmonary function, strength, mobility, pain and body image. Nevertheless, the majority of AIS studies predominantly focus on alleviating 1or 2-dimensional (2D) spinal deformity (frontal or sagittal) risk factors, and have not specifically targeted multi-dimensional risk factors associated with AIS.

Are magnetic resonance imaging or radiographic findings correlated with clinical prognosis in spinal cord neuropathy?

Dogs presented to the Small Animal Hospital of Veterinary Medicine, University of Tehran were included in the present study if spinal or intervertebral disc involvement was suspected. Clinical signs were recorded as well as general information of the patient such as age, breed and sex. Sixty dogs were examined radiographically and two standard orthogonal lateral and ventrodorsal projections wer...

Pretreatment quality control of single isocenter half- beam treatment planning technique using an amorphous silicon electronic portal-imaging device (EPID)

Introduction: Electronic portal imaging devices (EPIDs) are fundamentally used for instantaneous verification of the patient set‐up, block shape, and leaf positions during radiation therapy. In radiotherapy, situations arise in which an inclined PTV must be treated mutually with adjacent nodal regions. This methodology is most widely used for matching tangential/lateral breas...

Three-Dimensional CT Analysis of Congenital Scoliosis and Kyphosis: A New Classification

With advances in spine surgery, congenital spine deformity can now be treated with corrective fusion and osteotomy, even in young children. In these patients, the spine has various complications of vertebral anomalies and congenital fusion. A successful and safe outcome of corrective surgery requires evaluation by imaging preoperatively. Congenital spinal anomaly has conventionally been evaluat...

Progressive visual and hearing loss as looming manifestations of spinal meningeal melanocytoma

Abstract   Meningeal melanocytoma is a rare tumor of nervous system, which originates from leptomeningeal   melanocytes. The locations of melanocytoma in the nervous system are most frequently in the posterior fossa or along the spinal cord, and usually appear as an extra-axial mass. The manifestations of tumor are most often due to its compressing effect on adjacent nervous structures that c...

A 3D mathematical model for planning ostectomy on long-bone angular deformities

In this paper we propose a 3D mathematical model for planning a corrective ostectomy on bones with angular deformities. Angular deformity is usually treated with a surgery procedure called Center of Rotation of Angulation (CORA) [3, 1, 4, 2, 5] which uses 2D radiographic images and without considering rotational deviation. Our proposal is based on a 3D computed tomographic imaging technique whi...
